University Place Awarded $1,000,000 grant for Bridgeport Way

Soon travelling along Bridgeport will get even smoother for both motorists and pedestrians alike. Earlier this month the City was notified that they will be receiving a federal grant in the amount of $1,013,531 for pavement preservation and accessibility upgrades along Bridgeport Way between Cirque Drive and 37th Street. This work will include new asphalt overlay on the street and improving all sidewalks and pedestrian ramps up to current ADA standards.

This funding was received through the National Highway System Asset Management program. This program was established for the preservation of major roadways classified in the National Highway System. The City’s Bridgeport project was one of only 17 projects awarded state-wide under this program. The design work for this project will begin in 2018 and construction is scheduled for late spring 2019.
