Winter Fest 2015

Mark your calendars and experience the holiday magic of Winter Fest with the annual University Place Christmas Tree Lighting in Market Square – always the first Saturday in December.

The 5th Annual Garden Tour

It’s Garden Tour Time! The U.P. Historical Society will present “Spring into Summer”, the 2016 tour of notable U.P. gardens May 21 and 22, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. This year’s tour features five amazing and unique gardens, two belonging to Pierce County Master Gardeners. As a bonus, tour attendees will be able to visit the Curran House to see the improvements that the UPHS has made as a result of last year’s garden tour proceeds.

Crafty Teens—Wednesdays, 2-4 p.m.
Express your fandom crush, your OTP or create something totally random. No experience necessary.

• Dec. 9: Duct Tape

Games and Computers—Wednesdays, 2-5 p.m.
Play games on the big screen, use the laptop computers or kick it old-school with pawns and dice.

Public Safety & Criminal Justice in University Place

What are the public safety issues facing University Place? What is law enforcement’s role in the criminal justice system in your community? How can a better understanding of the system increase your safety?

Classes will take place from September 24 - November 12 on Thursdays from 1-4 p.m. at the University Place Police Headquarters.

Make a Difference Day

Make a Difference Day is an annual national event held in the fall, on the fourth Saturday in October, where neighbors help neighbors and residents help their community by coming together to clean up city parks. This year’s event will be held on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015 at Paradise Pond Park, 3300 67th Ave. W. from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. This year's planned park activity will include spreading woodchips on the trails. Prepare to bring your work gloves, rakes, shovels, hoes and wear your boots! This event takes place rain or shine.

Home-Made for You!

On Oct. 22, you have the opportunity to glimpse the talents and abilities of your neighbors as we give several home-based businesses the opportunity to showcase their wares at our Second Annual Home-Based Business Partner UP! From 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Atrium of the Civic Building at 3609 Market Place West. Visit the vendors who will be displaying their products and information on the services they provide. Stop by Frog n Kiwi and have a snack, enjoy a beverage plus meet your friends and neighbors as well as other local business owners.

Soprano Erin Guinup is an acclaimed vocalist who has performed with groups including the Northwest Sinfonietta, Tacoma Opera, Northwest Repertory Singers and the Tacoma Concert Band.  She will perform a variety of songs accompanied by Pianist Margie Skreen Dickerson.
