Duck Daze Parade

Fun, food and CARS!!! It's all a part of the upcoming University Place Duck Daze on Saturday, June 4 at 10 a.m. With free and easy garage parking, the best Parade around, great food and cool cars, it's a day you and your family will NOT want to miss!

After the annual Duck Daze Parade along Bridgeport Way, (27th to 40th St) head to Market Square for a tour of cool cars.

Get Fit! Partner Up

In recognition of National Physical Fitness and Sports Month, please make plans to attend a special Partner UP on Saturday, May 14 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Civic Building Atrium. Partner UPs are regular networking socials coordinated by the Economic Development Office of the City of University Place for members of the U.P. business community. This special event, however, is free and open to the public.
 

Pierce County READS

Outspoken poet, novelist and screenwriter explores modern-day Native American issues

What book will all of Pierce County be reading this year? Er, five books? In a break from tradition, Pierce County Library System chose five notable works from a single author for its 9th annual Pierce County READS program. Outspoken poet, novelist and screenwriter Sherman Alexie gets the nod as the 2016 featured author.

Dance Theatre Northwest “on pointe” for 2016 Season

The season begins by welcoming two new dance instructors to DTNW. Bonnie Calvert comes to DTNW as an experienced instructor and a former student of the Royal Academy of Dance in Arizona. Lauren Hancock has a passion for working with children and teaching dance.  She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Montana. 

Audition is the word for January. Experienced dancers with classical training are needed for upcoming Community Arts Are Education and Holiday performances. Positions are open for Company members, Junior Dance Ensemble Members and Guest performers.

Gingerbread Houses at the U.P. Library

Make and decorate your own gingerbread house to take home with you!

We're starting early this year on Dec. 5, just ahead of the Winter Fest activities, with the first decorating session at 10 a.m. and a new one starting every half hour. Tickets will be available and distributed at the event. Choose your start time and pick up your free ticket to attend your session. There will be a second session on Dec. 6 from 1 to 4 p.m.!

Pierce County Sheriff's Community Academy

Classes will start Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2016 and will meet once a week from 7 to 9:30 p.m. for 10 weeks. Classes are limited in size to 27 persons and will be held at the police station located at 3609 Market Place W Suite 201, University Place, 2nd floor in the Library/Civic Building.

All Community Thanksgiving Day Dinner

Everyone is invited to attend the community annual Thanksgiving Day Dinner, at no charge, on Nov. 26, at U.P. Primary School cafeteria, located at 2708 Grandview Drive West. Dinner will be served from noon until 2 p.m.

Reservations are helpful as seating and food are limited. Please call Nicole Jovich-Johnson at 206.240.7173 to make reservations or to volunteer (volunteers are needed from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.).

Winter Fest 2015

Mark your calendars and experience the holiday magic of Winter Fest with the annual University Place Christmas Tree Lighting in Market Square – always the first Saturday in December.
