Spring Arts & Concert Series

Dynamic artists and musicians will absolutely delight audiences in the upcoming Spring Arts & Concert Series sponsored by UP for Arts.  Please join us in the UP Civic/Library Atrium from 7  to 8:30 p.m. on three Fridays this spring.

This session's artists include:

March 27                    Mixed Media Artist Susan Strohm
                                             and The Jazz Misfits

Susan Strohm is a seasoned artist who has painted in different medias, winning several awards at local art shows and has juried at the Puyallup Fair and the Peninsula Art League closed shows.  Her work is also shown and sold in several local shops. Susan has taught water color, water media and mixed media classes for 15 years after retiring as an RN.  She loves to observe the “ah hah” moments when students or fellow artists realize their own creativity, developing their own styles.  Many of her students have gone on to have their own showings along with winning awards.

The Jazz Misfits is a quintet specializing in a unique blend of standards, TV/Movie themes,  pop and rock tunes all in the style of jazz. Their tunes create a fresh clean sound that showcases the trumpet and trombone along with improvised solos of all its members.  Well known among Jazz enthusiasts in the South Sound, they have played at such venues as the Tacoma Art Museum, Tulas in Seattle and Jazz Bones in Tacoma.

Tickets for all Arts & Concerts Series events are $10 for adults, $5 for students and free for UP for Arts members. For more information, please visit www.upforarts.org.
