Get Fit! Partner Up

In recognition of National Physical Fitness and Sports Month, please make plans to attend a special Partner UP on Saturday, May 14 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Civic Building Atrium. Partner UPs are regular networking socials coordinated by the Economic Development Office of the City of University Place for members of the U.P. business community. This special event, however, is free and open to the public.
 

Curran Orchard Insect Classes/Apple Trap Party

Learn how to combat the dreaded apple maggot, coddling moths and other insects at a free class taught by Master Gardener Bill Horn at the Curran Apple Orchard Park barn on Saturday, May 7.

The insect class will take place from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. followed by volunteers hanging “sticky” apple traps throughout the orchard from 10 a.m. to noon. Volunteers should wear old clothes, gloves and closed toe shoes. Help is also needed carrying branches to the dumpster and distributing wood chips. 

Puyallup Art Tour

On Saturday, May 14 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. join the University Place Senior Center for a great day trip where we will visit the Puyallup Farmers Market, then enjoy an informative guided tour of the outdoor public art in downtown Puyallup all for only $35 a person. We will have time for lunch (not included). The trip will leave from in front of the Library/Civic Building.

Disaster Preparedness Month

Mark your calendars and join us this weekend for Disaster Preparedness Day! On Saturday from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., West Pierce Fire & Rescue will be hosting Disaster Preparedness Day in conjunction with Healthy Kids Day at the YMCA in Lakewood. 

Learn about what to do to prepare your home and family for a disaster, as well as gather lots of safety information.
