Local authors reveal visions of Tacoma and Seattle

Two Tacoma authors will give book talks at University Place Pierce County Library in February—one about the photogenic beauty of Seattle and the other about the oddities of Tacoma.

Award-winning photographer Joe Becker shares his new book, “Scenic Seattle: Touring and Photographing the Emerald City"  at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 23 at University Place Pierce County Library, 3609 Market Place W., Suite 100, 98466 • 253-548-3307.

Night Pruning Class

Learn a new skill and help take care of a unique orchard park in University Place!

Join us at a free Night Pruning Class taught by Master Gardener/arborist Robert Sweet on Thursday, Jan. 26, from 7-9 p.m. at the United Church in University Place, located at 3912 Grandview Drive W.  

Participants in this class (sponsored by CORE Curran Orchard Resource Enthusiasts) will get an overview of proper pruning techniques for apple trees.

Interested people can then practice their skills at the upcoming Pruning Parties at the Curran Orchard located at 3920 Grandview Drive W:

Free Pruning Class - March 4

Free pruning classes on Saturdays from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Curran Orchard, 3920 Grandview Drive West. Bring work gloves, loppers, hand pruners. Volunteers also needed to help haul branches and prune trees.
