Make a Difference Day in U.P.

Join your friends and neighbors on Saturday, October 22, 2016 and “Make A Difference” in University Place by pitching in to help improve two of our city’s community parks.

Volunteers are needed to help with clean-up activities at Colegate Park (3717 Grandview Dr W., next to Curtis High School) as part of efforts to enhance the area’s passive recreational opportunities and provide a place to walk in this small, quiet nature park. In addition, a tree will be planted in honor of Arbor Day.

The work at Colegate will begin at 9 a.m. and go until noon, but as the old saying goes, “Many hands make for light work” so encourage as many people as you can – family, friends, scout groups, co-workers, etc. – to help out and make a difference in our community.

Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own hand tools such as rakes, hoes and gloves. For more information, please call City of U.P. Parks Maintenance at 253.460.6493.

Make A Difference Day is one of the largest annual days of service nationwide. Since 1992, volunteers from communities across the country have participated in Make A Difference Day activities with the singular purpose of improving the lives of others.

UPDATE: The event at Riconosciuto Park is cancelled due to muddy conditions; Make a Difference Day will take place solely at Colegate Park.
