Duck Daze is Around the Corner

Plans are shaping up for another fun-filled, family-friendly celebration in University Place when Duck Daze returns on Saturday, June 1. There will be a parade, live music, balloons, face painting and due to overwhelming interest, the return of vendors who will offer a variety of goods and services in Market Square.

The fun begins at 10 a.m. with the Duck Daze parade. The parade route will begin at the corner of 27th Street and Bridgeport Way and continue south to 37th Street, ending at the Fire Station 31 Open House, where fire personnel will be conducting bike helmet and life jacket fittings, refreshments and a watermelon eating contest.

After the parade, stop by the Civic Building for an opportunity to explore U.P.'s past as well as help shape it's future by participating in the Imagine2045 campaign. This is a community effort to help determine what we want our community to look like in the next 25 years!

As an extra special treat, the Open House will host some special guests this year: members of U.P.’s Community Connector Partner, the 16th Combat Aviation Brigade (CAB), will be landing at the Fire Station sometime between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. in UH-60M Blackhawk and AH64E Apache helicopters that will be on display during the festivities.

The public is invited to participate in the Duck Daze parade by marching with or without a float. Marchers must keep pace with the other entrants and adults are allowed to walk and hand out candy and toys to the crowds lining the streets (items cannot be thrown into the crowd.) If you do plan to march, however, pre-registration is encouraged by May 17 at 4 p.m. For additional information or questions, please call 253.460.2517.
