Dear University Place Citizen:
Thank you for your interest in checking out your Capital Strategy Taskforce and our website. Our Capital Strategy Task Force (CSTF) consists of twenty volunteer citizens appointed by the City Council. Our task is to make recommendations to City Council on capital improvement issues and how to fund them through the year 2011.
Our City’s capital improvement revenue sources are at an all time low. We need to recommend to the City Council what is the best use of these limited funding sources as well as discover new sources of revenue to develop the city of your dreams. However, in order to adequately represent your needs, we desperately need your help. We invite and welcome your participation at any of our upcoming Informational & ‘SPEAK UP’ Meetings or our Town Hall Meeting.
The City of University Place recently conducted a Community Survey to help establish priorities for the development of new improvement projects within the community, including road and street improvements, street lighting, and new parks and recreation facility improvements. Even though a statistically valid community survey was conducted by an outside consulting firm (GreenPlay/ETC Institute), the survey only went to approximately one-quarter of the households in the City. The CSTF wants to be assured that all residents in University Place have an opportunity to express their wishes, desires and opinions of the residents in University Place. The purpose of the Informational & ‘SPEAK UP’ Meetings and the Town Hall Meeting is to inform you about the issues, seek your feedback and make available the results of the initial survey.
Please use this site to explore the CSTF’s developing vision of existing levels of service provided through parks, trail systems, streetlights and sidewalks. Please click on the words in blue in order to link to these services for more detail.
Once again, thank you for your interest and giving us the privilege to serve you through the CSTF. We are looking forward to meeting you and hearing your concerns at our community-wide meetings. In the meantime, additional questions about the project can be directed to Eric Faison, the City’s Community & Governmental Affairs Manager. He can be reached at (253) 460-5443 or by e-mail at efaison@cityofup.com.
Sincerely,
Denise McCluskey
Chair of CSTF
