The University Place Festival,
, is scheduled for Friday, August 1st and Saturday, August 2nd, and planning is already underway. There will be something for everyone!

he event is currently in its 13th successful year with past attendance surmounting expectations and climbing to nearly 18,000. A total of nearly 200 food vendors, arts and crafts presenters, demonstrators and performers are on hand to welcome visitors to the event.
The Festival offers affordable entertainment and activities to residents of South Puget Sound region. Financial support for the Festival is derived from donations and sponsorships of local businesses and individuals. Because of the broad-based support of the community, the event boasts a combination of local and nationally recognized talent, and showcases a variety of artists from diverse ethnic, geographic and economic backgrounds appealing to audiences of all ages. Past entertainment has included: Paul Revere and the Raiders, The Lovin' Spoonful, the Herman's Hermits, Gary Lewis & The Playboys, The Coasters and B.J.Thomas, along with a wide variety of excellent local and regional talent.
The mission of the Festival is to provide a quality event with activities and entertainment that are affordable and accessible to all South Sound families, regardless of family size or income level and to promote local businesses. Donations and support from area businesses and individuals help to make this event possible.
This year's event will begin on Friday, August 1st with Family Fun Night featuring live music from "Second Time Around" and performances from the Curtis High School Dance Team, teen rap group "DIV" and teen girl band "Starstruck". The fun continues Saturday, August 2nd at 7:30 a.m. with a Pancake Breakfast and Silent Auction sponsored by the Optimist Club of West Tacoma.This year's headline entertainment features, The Coats.
Get yourself over to Cirque Park on Thursday, July 31 for the annual Hogs vs. Hosers Charity softball game! Once again the U.P. Firefighters and Police will play against each other in a softball game to raise funds for the U.P. Children's Fund. come and see which team of emergency responders will leave with the trophy!
Show your team spirit by purchasing a Hogs vs. Hosers commemorative T-shirt for $10, available at the festival. Shirts are also available ahead of time at the Public Safety Building. Funds from sales will benefit the U.P. Childrens Fund.
Make sure you don't miss a really great game - and one that is alway entertaining, full of team spirit and pride. The most exciting softball game of the year will be the Hogs vs. Hosers on Thursday, July 31, at 6:30 p.m. at Cirque Park. We'll see you there!

Entertainment Seating
Entertainment seating in on a "first come, first serve" basis, with festival-style seating on the lawn, so bring your beach chairs and blankets and kick back and relax to outstanding performances for the entire family; entertainment begins Friday, August 1 and 5 p.m. with various different musical groups through-out the day, ending the evening with Rock 'n Roll group "Second Time Around". Saturday, August 2 we open the state with "Zumba" and end the evening at 6 p.m. with Rockabilly group "The Dempseys", followed by our headliner, at 7:45 p.m., with the infamous A-Cappella group, "The Coats"!
BBQ's and open fires are NOT allowed, ice chest and picnics welcome; a variety of Food Concession stands will be available both Friday and Saturday at reasonable cost.
Christmas in August
Put a smile on a needy child's face at Christmas, and help support the U.P. Firefighters Local 2105 Annual Christmas Project by bringing a new, unwrapped toy to UPFest this year!
