Senior Services

Senior Scholarship Program:
The city of University Place is now offering Scholarships for seniors, ages 61+, fro some activities and trips. If you are interested, please contact Jennifer Robinson at (253) 564-1992 or JRobinson@cityofup.com for an application and qualification details.

Bridge Challenge/Pinochle:
Drop in for a challenging game of Bridge or have a great time playing Pinochle with new friends! Groups of four are formed the day of, everyone guaranteed to play! Coffee provided.

Arts, Crafts and Hobbies:
Bring your own art, craft or hobby projects to work on with others with similar talents and interests. Coffee provided. Bring a lunch to enjoy while you create your own masterpiece!

Bingo:
Arrive early to the senior lunch and have a great time playing bingo. Prizes provided, occasional white elephant bingo. Coffee provided. Callers always welcome.

Tuesday Social:
Senior ladies, this is the place for you! This group of ladies would like to welcome you to their regular Tuesday Social. Bring a sack lunch to enjoy while you make new friends, enjoy games and share craft ideas. A chance to visit, exchange stories and swap recipes!

Senior Foot Care:
This is a visiting health care service for seniors and others who want routine nail care for their feet. R.N.'s and L.P.N.'s provide all foot care. $22 (Pay Nurse) The footcare program is held the 1st Wednesday of each month. Call (253) 564-1992 for an appointment. For additional footcare locations and times call (253) 848-9625 Please pay at time of service.

AARP Driver Safety Program:
Develop safe defensive driving techniques. Certification of completion applies toward a discount on your car insurance. Please call to reserve a spot. Instruction by AARP, please pay the instructor the day of class. Class begins promptly please arrive 10 minutes early.

Catholic Community Services Senior Lunch Program:
Every Friday Catholic Community Services and volunteers provide a delicious lunch to seniors! These balanced and nutritious meals will only be a part of your day. This is a great opportunity to make new friends or get reacquainted with old ones as well as have a great time. Reservations required at least two (2) weeks in advance ensuring you a lunch. Call (253) 474-1200 or 9253) 564-1992 for a reservation. $2.50 donation appreciated. Stay and socialize after lunch, we are open until 4pm.

Senior REC Source:

Register now for the "Senior REC Source"...UP's Senior Center bi-monthly Newsletter.

Some of the information included in the newsletter will be regarding senior trips, programs, and special events taking place at the center. The Senior Center REC Source newsletter is a FREE source of information and will be mailed out every other month. This is a great way to stay informed on all of our new activities at the senior center. The September/October calendar is currently available for viewing. Don't miss out! Sign up today!

Coffee With Council:
Come down to the UP Sr. /Community Center and enjoy a cup of coffee with different University Place Council members once a month. (Last Wednesday of each month) This is your chance to learn more about your community and the future of your city, a chance to share opinions and get to know your city council members.
