Mission Statement

University Place Youth Council
The University Place Youth Council is dedicated to further the opportunities for youth by the advancement and implementation of ideas and suggestions from the youth, children and young adults grades five through twelve, of University Place and adult representative of clubs, organizations, the University Place City Council, and schools located in University Place wishing to support the youth of University Place. Some opportunities for the youth which the Youth Council provides either now or in the future are: a political awareness of the events and issues concerning the students councils of the schools in University Place, the City Council, the state government, and the federal government: recreational activities including a community center, week-end retreats, and late-night outs: a forum to voice opinions on and ask questions concerning school-related issues such as classes, new and existing, and orientations for new students. The governing body of the Youth Council will be composed entirely of the youth of University Place and will benefit from the help of a youth advisor. The Youth Council represents a need in the city of University Place to serve specifically the youth therein, and therefore the members and beneficiaries of the Youth Council include, but are not limited to, all the youth of University Place. There will be no prejudice shown to anyone by the Youth Council in respect to race, religion, culture, financial standing, social standing, or any other form of prejudice.
