Let's spring into spring, then dive into summer together with new programs, classes, camps and special events. April showers bring May flowers and not far behind...the sweet smell of summer. Highlighted are new programs that will encourage you to participate and many innovative park-planning projects that will provide you with the opportunity to spend time outdoors. University Place has got a great line-up of recreation opportunities for friends and families to gather and enjoy together. Not only does Spring and Summer bring out the best of our weather but with it comes all new and exciting recreational programs! Some of the NEW programs, just to mention a few are Skyhawks Sport Camps, Zumba and Zumba Gold NEW Visual Arts Class, Diamond Baseball School. Children will "Learn to Cook" and Scrapbook Digitally; We will offer a "Madden Tournament" for boys and girls, ages 10-18 and NEW Tai Chi Chih classes for adults. Experience your city in numerous ways, whether through our excellent parks system and open spaces or participating in our quality recreation programs. The Recreation Division continues to see growth of programs, participants and special events. Our goal is to provide the community with even more recreation options for all ages: as we continue to grow, parks staff would like to thank you for your support and participation. Please feel free to suggest ideas for programs or activities that you would like to see.
There is no shortage of activities for the fearless adventurer in University Place; your opportunities are limited only by your imagination.

Camp U-Play Summer Day Camp...Is Back!
Each week a creative theme! Activities include arts, games, crafts, community projects and great field trips; campers will go swimming, attend movies and HAVE FUN! Enrollment is limited to 70 childred per week. Camp ratio is 10-1; ten campers one leader, campers will be assigned to a group according to age. Camp t-shirt included!
Volunteer opportunities available for youth, ages 14 and over; pick up an application at the Parks & Recreation Office!

SUNSET TERRACE PARK
Make your event special by reserving Sunset Terrace Park Picnic Shelter for your next outdoor party or family gathering!
Conveniently located off of South 19th Street and Seaview Street West, Sunset Terrace Park is an ideal location for a small gathering. Site amenities include a covered picnic shelter with picnic tables and Bar-B-Q's an open grassy area with shade trees, a small play structure with swings, and a youth baseball field; water and power available, sani-can.
The Picnic Shelter is reserved in 4 hour time slots; available for use from 10am to dusk.
Rental applications may be obtained at the Parks & Recreation Office, 3715 Bridgeport Way W., or you may call (253)460-2518 or (253)460-2530, and an application will be mailed to you. Reservations can be made Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. 4:30 p.m.
The picnic shelter may be used on a first-come, first-served basis if no reservation exists.
Park hours are 10 a.m. - dusk
