| The Planning & Community Development Department would like you to consider us a resource rather than a roadblock. We also know that actions speak louder than words, and encourage you to surf our site and/or contact us for your University Place project.
Residential
The majority of construction activity within the City is related to single-family homes. A few large subdivisions are currently under construction, with a few more in the permit pipeline. When these are built out, construction will be limited to infill lots, small subdivisions, and additions/remodels.
Commercial
Although the commercial activity within the City is minor compared to some neighboring jurisdictions, work is continuous. Tenant Improvements, or T.I.'s, are common as businesses adjust, and several new buildings have risen in the past couple of years, including the 3106 Bridgeport Building, the Hogan Building at 3929 Bridgeport Way and the Cascade Eye and Skin Building at 5225 Cirque Drive West. We believe good communication in the early stages of design is critical for a smooth permit process, and encourage the submission of preliminary plans to identify potential code conflicts. The PCD Department offers weekly technical review committee meetings free of charge to answer your questions and highlight code issues.
