Residential
The majority of construction activity within the city is related to single-family homes. A few large subdivisions are currently under construction, with a few more in the permit pipeline. When these are built out, construction will be limited to infill lots, small subdivisions, and additions/remodels.
Commercial
Although the commercial activity within the city is minor compared to some neighboring jurisdictions, work is continuous. Tenant Improvements, or T.I.'s, are common as businesses adjust, and several new buildings have risen in the past couple of years, including a 145,000 sq. ft. Fred Meyer. We believe good communication in the early stages of design is critical for a smooth permit process, and encourage the submission of preliminary plans to identify potential code conflicts. The Development Services Department offers weekly technical review committee meetings free of charge to answer your questions and highlight code issues.
