Meet the City Manager

City Manager: Bob Jean

Summary:
Currently: City Manager for the City of University Place, WA (population: 31,140), a new city incorporated in 1995, $25.6 million annual budget and 70 employees.

Major issues involve Town Center Plan Implementation and Finance, Parks Development, Streets, Sidewalks and Storm Drainage Projects.

Education:
Master's in Public Administration, Honors Graduate
University of Puget Sound, Tacoma, WA, 1974.

Experience:
26 Years of City Management Experience In Oregon, Kansas, California and Washington State. ICMA Credentialed Local Government Manager.

Previously: City Manager for Newcastle, WA (population: 10,000), and Puyallup, WA (population: 28,000); City Administrator for Tigard, OR (population: 28,000), Pratt, KS (population: 8,000), and Troutdale, OR (population: 6,000); Budget Analyst for the City of Seattle; U.S. Army, Infantry Officer, First Lieutenant. West Coast Vice President and Board Member for the International City-County Management Association (ICMA).

Major Achievements and Areas of Expertise:
Council-Manager relations and organizational development; downtown development and redevelopment in University Place, Puyallup and Redwood City; annexation and growth management; long-range financial planning and performance-based budgeting; parks planning, lands purchases and development; community involvement and information; and intergovernmental relations and negotiations.
