State of the City - Lorna Smith

How fortunate we are to live in such a beautiful community AND have the opportunity to watch it evolve into an even more vibrant and exciting City!

University Place has always been “THE PLACE” – it has just become evident to more people recently as we have begun developing our natural assets. U.P. boasts beautiful and diverse parks including Homestead , the Adriana Hess Wetlands, the Curran Orchard Park , the newly dedicated Cirque Park and the soon to be developed Chambers Creek Park and Golf Course. It won’t be long before many additional visitors will be realizing that U.P. really is “THE PLACE.”

Throughout the year, I encourage you to take the opportunity to invite friends, neighbors and others from out of town to visit and enjoy with us the many activities and events available in U.P. Beginning with our Parks programs in January and stretching through the spring and summer months with Duck Daze, the Summer Festival, Treasures in the Park and then into the winter months, the City’s Tree Lighting, University Place offers a variety of ways to appreciate and get to know “THE PLACE.”

If you haven’t been involved before or if you are new to our City, why not learn “what’s happening” by volunteering some time with one of the many organizations, committees or commissions helping to determine the direction University Place will be going in the years ahead. University Place is THE PLACE and a GREAT place to live, but you can make it even better by sharing your time and ideas!

For more information on volunteering, call 566-5656 and ask how YOU can get involved!
